In a show of unity and strategic planning, nearly 50 senior leaders of the Opposition-led INDIA bloc gathered over a high-profile dinner diplomacy event on Thursday, to finalise their next major political campaign in Bihar.
The meet-up focused on planning Bihar Yatra set to commence on August 7. The yatra, to be led by Rahul Gandhi, will take shape under the banner of the MGB (Mahagathbandhan) and is being launched as a direct response to what the bloc calls the "war on electoral frauds" in the state.
At the core of the discussions was a detailed presentation by Rahul Gandhi titled “Democracy Destroyed,” in which he briefed the INDIA Bloc leadership on alleged booth-level electoral frauds. The presentation formed the basis for a consensus to launch a march to the Election Commission of India (ECI) on August 11. This planned march will serve as the coalition's formal protest and demand for electoral transparency.
The dinner meeting, which brought together top brass from various INDIA Bloc allies, was also crucial in setting the narrative for the upcoming electoral battles. The alliance resolved to target what they described as “election frauds” through intensified booth-level strategy and mobilisation.
Importantly, the Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) chief, Mukesh Sahani, dismissed any notion of poll boycotts in Bihar. “We have trust in democracy,” Sahani said, reaffirming the INDIA Bloc’s commitment to participating in the democratic process despite raising serious concerns about its current state.
