The Los Angeles Lakers icon, LeBron James, has gained fame apart from just the basketball court. In June 2022, Forbes revealed that the veteran player had joined the billionaires’ club. Despite his huge success, James remains very cautious with money.
He learned early in life how hard it is to build wealth. Recently, on his wife Savannah James’ “Everybody Crazy” podcast, he shared why he rarely takes financial risks. His business acumen has turned him into a global business figure.
LeBron James discusses his careful approach to money
LeBron James has admitted that he is not a “risky” investor. James was raised by his mother, Gloria James, with the support of an uncle. His father, Anthony McClelland, was absent for most of his childhood, reportedly due to legal troubles. Speaking on the podcast, the NBA legend reflected on a key talk with his financial adviser. “My financial adviser, the first thing I told him when he wanted to manage my money was if you steal my money, bro, or if I’m broke, bro, I’m letting you know, bro, it ain’t going to be good for you”, said LeBron James.
Even after achieving billionaire status, James never let go of his “scarcity” mindset. He also admitted that he remains extremely cautious with his money because he “can’t start over” and is “too far gone” to go broke.
His firm stance paid off as his financial adviser stayed loyal, and his wealth continued to grow. Today, that disciplined and strategic approach has helped turn LeBron James into a true business powerhouse.
