Madhubani: District magistrate (DM) Anand Sharma has urged all pension beneficiaries in the district to complete their annual life certification at the earliest to avoid disruption in pension payments.

The appeal came as over 1.8 lakh out of 6.14 lakh pensioners are yet to complete the mandatory verification, according to a press note issued by the district public relations office on Monday. The district’s social security cell manages six pension schemes supporting elderly citizens, widows, and persons with disabilities. Funds are directly transferred to beneficiaries' bank accounts via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

However, life certification is compulsory at least once a year to verify that recipients are alive and eligible. Failure to submit the certificate can lead to suspension of pension disbursements, affecting thousands who rely on this vital support, the statement said.Total pensioners requiring certification in the district approximately are 6.14 lakh out of which around 4.33 lakh (about 71%) have already completed the process, while the pending roughly 1.8 lakh can easily complete the process free of charge at any nearby common service centre (CSC), the press note clarifies.

For those facing issues with fingerprint scanning, iris scan authentication is available as an alternative. If Aadhaar-related technical problems arise, beneficiaries are advised to visit the nearest Aadhaar enrolment centre for updates.“With Holi approaching, a large number of people return to their homes in the district. This is a right opportunity for pensioners to get their life certification done quickly. I appeal to all remaining beneficiaries to visit their nearest CSC without delay so that their pensions continue smoothly and on time,” the release quotes the DM.
