11 more families from Koottickal hit by 2021 floods to be given houses

Eleven families in Koottickal in the district, who were not included in the government’s rehabilitation scheme after the 2021 floods, will be given new houses under the leadership of Poonjar MLA Sebastian Kulathunkal. The project is being implemented through the Poonjar MLA Service Army with the support of Rotary International District 3211 and the Pala Rotary Club.

Along with the key handover ceremony of the 11 houses on August 21 , the foundation stone for 10 more houses across the constituency will be laid.

Land donated

For the project, 60 cents of land was donated free of cost by C.Y.A. Rauf, son of former Mundakayam grama panchayat president C.P.A. Yousuf. A special government sanction was obtained to convert the land for residential use, exempt stamp duty and register it in the beneficiaries’ names.

Water Resources Minister Roshy Augustine will inaugurate the key handover ceremony at St. Mary’s Orthodox Church Parish Hall, Koottickal.
