A 14-year-old girl was allegedly gangraped by three youths in Kolkata’s Dum Dum area. As per the officials, the victim, a student of Class 7, was returning from her tuition classes on Saturday when the heinous crime took place. All three suspects have been arrested, and a probe is underway based on the complaint filed by the girl.
As per the police, one of the accused took her to a park where two more persons joined them. When she was returning from tuition, she was forcibly taken on an e-rickshaw to a shanty some distance away, where she was sexually assaulted, police said based on the complaint filed by the girl.
As per the reports, one of the accused was the girl’s acquaintance.
Though the three accused later allowed her to leave the spot, they threatened her not to divulge anything.
The girl was sent for a medical examination to determine the nature of the assault and whether more than one person was involved, the officer added.
The three suspects were arrested on Saturday night, and a case was registered against them under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
On Sunday, BJP activists staged a demonstration outside the Dum Dum police station, demanding strict punishment for the perpetrators.
