142 arrested for drunk driving in Vijayawada; 17 jailed

The traffic police of NTR Commissionerate registered cases against 142 persons for driving vehicles in inebriated condition. The accused were produced in court, which sentenced 17 persons to two days imprisonment, said Traffic Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Shareen Begum in a release. The court also imposed a fine of ₹12.95 lakh on the remaining accused, the DCP added.
