A 54-year-old homemaker has filed a complaint with the Sadashivanagar police alleging the loss of 145 grams of gold and diamond valuables from her bank locker at the local State Bank of India (SBI), Dollars Colony branch in the city in March this year.
The victim, Bindu C.D., did not get a convincing reply despite raising complaints and repeated follow ups, which prompted her to approach the police. Based on her complaint, the Sadashivanagar police registered a case charging the bank officials under section 305(a) (deals with theft in a dwelling house, means of transportation, or place of worship) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) on Friday for further investigations.
According to the complaint, the victim had a savings bank account at the SBI, Dollars Colony branch since December 2022, and had availed a locker facility. She had kept her valuables, including 145 grams of gold and diamond jewellery in the locker, which she found to be intact upon checking in November, 2024. However, when she checked the locker again on March 28, 2025, the valuables were missing. She raised a complaint but the officials denied having any knowledge about the valuables, and said that no one could access her locker. The victim then approached both the bank customer care and the chief vigilance officer, but all her efforts went in vain.
The officials told her to check for the valuables at her home, and gave evasive responses every time she approached them, she alleged.
