16-Year-Old Murdered by Brother-in-Law Over Extramarital Affair in Palamu

Daltonganj: A person, along with one Mandeep Kumar Yadav, was arrested on charges of murdering his minor brother-in-law at Pochi village in Palamu on October 27, police said on Thursday.Palamu SP Reeshma Ramesan said, “Pankaj (16) had seen his brother in-law, Ramesh Kumar Yadav, in a compromising position with another woman. Investigations revealed that Ramesh feared Pankaj would disclose the extramarital affair. He enlisted Mandeep Kumar Yadav, who had a long-standing land dispute with the minor boy’s father, Bali Yadav, to assist in the murder. Mandeep saw it as an opportunity to settle the long-pending land dispute with Bali.

”The two men abducted the boy and strangulated the minor to death on October 27. The father of the deceased lodged a missing person complaint with Satbarwa police the next day, and named Ramesh as a suspect. Ramesh was arrested on October 29. The boy’s body was recovered from a canal on October 29, police said.Based on the revelations made by Ramesh, Mandeep was nabbed. Ramesh and Mandeep have been remanded to judicial custody on Thursday. A motorcycle and two phones were seized from the two arrested accused, police added.
