19-year-old student, on her way to college, beheaded on road in Himachal

A 19-year-old student was brutally killed on her way to college in Himachal Pradesh's Mandi district on Monday morning, in a shocking incident that has triggered panic across the region, officials said.

The incident took place in Sarkaghat area at around 9.15 am, when the victim was allegedly attacked in the middle of the road. Her body was recovered by police shortly after, with officials confirming that she was beheaded by the assailants.

Police teams from Sarkaghat reached the spot soon after the information was received and took possession of the body, initiating an investigation into the case. Senior officers, including Mandi Superintendent of Police Vinod Kumar, also rushed to the scene.

While the motive behind the killing remained unclear, local reports suggest that two unidentified bike-borne men may have been involved. Police, however, said the exact circumstances will only be established after the accused are identified and arrested.

Authorities have launched multiple teams to trace the attackers. CCTV footage from nearby areas is being examined as part of the investigation.

SP Mandi Vinod Kumar said the matter is under active investigation and assured that the accused will be apprehended soon.

The incident has left the area in a state of shock, with residents expressing concern over the brazen nature of the attack.
