How deep is your love? Well, for a Brazilian, it’s almost $1B deep when it comes to Neymar.
In a stunning revelation that has captivated Brazil, a 31-year-old businessman from Porto Alegre has named Neymar Jr. as the sole heir to his vast fortune, estimated at R$6.1 billion (around $1 billion USD).
The unusual will was officially registered on June 12, 2025, according to Brazilian outlet GZH. What makes the story even more remarkable is that the businessman has no family or professional ties to the football superstar.
The anonymous entrepreneur explained that his decision stemmed from deep admiration for Neymar and a sense of personal connection.
“I like Neymar, I identify a lot with him," he said, adding that he sees in the player “rare values" and was especially moved by Neymar’s close bond with his father, Neymar Sr.
For the businessman, Neymar represents more than just an athlete; he is a cultural icon whose resilience and family devotion resonate on a personal level.
Neymar’s Camp Responds
Despite the headlines, Neymar’s representatives clarified that they have not yet been officially informed about the inheritance.
“Neymar’s representatives have stated they have not received any notification regarding the matter," read their brief statement.
Still, the news has already sparked a wave of speculation across Brazil, with fans debating both the businessman’s motivations and what the inheritance could mean for Neymar, who is already one of the country’s wealthiest athletes.
Neymar’s Career at a Crossroads
The revelation comes at a pivotal moment in Neymar’s career. Now 33 and playing once again for Santos FC, Neymar is fighting to remain relevant on the international stage ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Brazil is entering a new era under legendary Italian manager Carlo Ancelotti, who was hired to revive the Selecão after a string of disappointing results in World Cup qualifying. But Neymar’s role in this new chapter remains uncertain.
When Ancelotti released his squad list for the September 2025 international window, Neymar was left out.
The coach cited fitness concerns, saying the forward’s “physical condition" prevented him from being selected. Neymar, however, quickly pushed back.
“It was a muscle swelling, but nothing serious. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have played today," Neymar said after completing 90 minutes against Fluminense.
“If I was left out, it was a technical decision, it had nothing to do with my physical condition."
