Assam Police have arrested two fake doctors within two days for allegedly treating patients without possessing valid medical qualifications in Silchar.

The first arrest took place on November 1, when police detained Sopal Roy, a resident of Chhota Jalenga, based on credible information.

According to officials, Roy had been posing as a doctor for a long time, examining patients inside his pharmacy. He had even set up a separate doctor’s chamber next to the pharmacy to continue his illegal practice. Following the raid, police initiated necessary legal action against him.

A day later, on November 2, Cachar Police conducted another raid and arrested Indrajit Roy (39), who was allegedly working as a visiting doctor at an establishment called “Maa Ayurveda” in the E&D Colony area of Tarapur. Police caught him red-handed while he was attending to patients. Legal proceedings have also been initiated against him.

Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Subrata Sen said that the police are taking strict action against individuals involved in illegal medical practices. He added that the crackdown will continue to prevent such unethical activities in the future.
