Two police personnel from the DJ Halli police station in Bengaluru have been suspended after a woman accused them of sexual harassment, cheating, and criminal intimidation.
The two cops have been identified as Inspector Sunil H B and Assistant Sub-Inspector Prakash.
According to the complaint, around a year ago, Inspector Sunil H B obtained the woman’s contact number under the pretext of assisting her in a case of financial dispute. He allegedly began messaging her regularly and, after befriending her, invited her to his Bengaluru flat.
The woman alleged that Sunil later booked a hotel room where he established physical relations with her by promising marriage. However, after some months, he began avoiding her. Additionally, the woman accused ASI Prakash of demanding sexual favours from her.
The complainant had listed her allegations in a letter to Karnataka Director General of Police M A Saleem, and the letter was redirected to the city police.
Based on her complaint, the police have registered a case against both cops under Sections 351 (2) (criminal intimidation), 69 (sexual intercourse by deceitful means), and 75 (1) (sexual harassment) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
