2 held after encounter for killing pregnant woman in Mathura

Agra: Two men were arrested after an encounter in Mathura on Tuesday night for allegedly strangling a 26-year-old pregnant woman to death and dumping her body on the Yamuna Expressway on April 12.The woman was murdered after she started putting pressure on one of the accused, with whom she was in a relationship, to marry her.Police said Brajesh Kumar Singh (28), the woman’s lover and resident of Auraiya, and Vikas Singh (24) from Etawah, sustained bullet injuries in their legs in the encounter. DSP Shweta Verma said, “The injured were sent to the hospital for treatment. The Honda car used in the incident was recovered. A separate FIR has been filed against the under BNS Section 109 (attempt to murder) and Arms Act for firing at police.”Two country-made pistols, four cartridges, a car and the victim’s Aadhaar and ATM cards were recovered.Nikita Chand, a native of Deoria, was found dead near milestone 130 in Baldev area on April 13. A case against unidentified persons was registered under BNS section 103 (1) (murder).During probe, police found that Nikita had arrived in Vrindavan on April 12 with a friend and later met Brajesh. “A heated argument broke out between Nikita and Brajesh over marriage, following which she was strangled to death by Brajesh and his friend. Nikita used to work as a beautician in Delhi-NCR, while Brijesh is a driver,” said SHO Pushpendra Singh.
