MANGALURU: A woman was killed and two others were injured in a collision between a tanker lorry and a car on the National Highway near Kodapala of Sampaje village, Sullia taluk, on Wednesday.
The deceased is Shobha, 47, wife of Ponnappa, a resident of Nellihudikeri, Siddapur, Madikeri.According to the police, the accident occurred on the Kodapala stretch of the National Highway in Sullia taluk, Sampaje village, between a tanker lorry traveling from Madikeri towards Sullia and a car coming from Sullia towards Madikeri. In the accident, the woman traveling in the car died on the spot, while the car’s driver, Devayya, 54, and his wife Vanajakshi, 44, sustained injuries.
After initial treatment at a private hospital in Sullia, they were referred to a hospital in Mangaluru for further medical care.
A case was registered at Sullia Police Station under Sections 281, 125(a), and 106 of the BNS.Pedestrian KilledA pedestrian was killed after being hit by a bus near AB Shetty Circle in Mangaluru, allegedly due to the driver’s negligence. The complainant, Vajraksha, stated that on Tuesday, while traveling in a bus and seated in the front, at around 4:40 p.m., as the bus was approaching AB Shetty Circle, the driver, Anwar Hussain, allegedly drove negligently and recklessly, failing to notice an unidentified pedestrian crossing the road from the Dargah side towards Nehru Maidan.
As a result, the bus hit the pedestrian, causing the person to fall on the road. The complainant immediately got down from the bus, attended to the injured pedestrian, and noticed bleeding from the ear. With the help of the public, the injured was shifted to Wenlock Hospital for treatment. However, the attending doctor declared the pedestrian dead the same evening.
