2 Naxalites With Rs 16 Lakh Bounty Killed In Chhattisgarh's Bijapur

Two CPI Maoists with a Rs 16 lakh bounty, were killed in Bijapur. In 2025, over 240 Naxalites have been killed in separate encounters in Chhattisgarh.

In a significant crackdown, security personnel in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur killed two Naxalites in an encounter. They had a cumulative bounty of Rs 16 lakh, police said on Saturday.

Hidma Podiyam, 34, and Munna Madkam, 25, were members of the military platoon number 1 of the outlawed CPI (Maoists). They were neutralised in a gunfight with the District Reserve Guard in the forested south-west region of Bijapur, Superintendent of Police Jitendra Kumar Yadav told PTI.

Security forces recovered a .303 rifle, a 12-bore gun, eight rounds, batteries, cordex wire, scanner set, Maoist literature and other related materials from the encounter site.

Earlier this week, security forces killed Modem Balakrishna alias Manoj, a Central Committee Member (CCM) of the banned outfit with a reward of Rs 1.80 crore on his head, along with nine other cadres in a fierce encounter on the hills of Rajadera-Matal under Mainpur police station limits on Thursday.

As per a report by PTI, this year, 243 Naxalites have been killed in separate encounters in Chhattisgarh.

Of these, 214 were eliminated in the Bastar division, which comprises seven districts, while 27 others were gunned down in Gariaband district of the Raipur division. Two other Naxalites were killed in Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki district in Durg division.

Forces Have Been Fighting Naxalism Bravely: Chhattisgarh CM

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Friday praised the efforts of agencies and security forces towards eliminating Naxalism from the state.

“Since our government came to power twenty months ago, the Central Security Forces and Chhattisgarh Police have been bravely fighting Naxalism. Ongoing operations continue to bring us success. Yesterday, in a Naxalite encounter in Gariaband, our forces achieved remarkable results. I commend their bravery," CM Sai was quoted by PTI.
