2-Year-Old Dies After Getting Tangled In US Hotel Room's Window Blind Cord

Two-year-old boy died after getting entangled in window blinds at a Birmingham hotel on July 4. He passed away on July 10 after life support.

In an unfortunate incident reported from Birmingham, a two-year-old child died after he was found entangled in the window blinds of a hotel room. The incident took place on July 4, and after battling for six days, the toddler died on July 10. The kid, Kiere DeAndre Jaden Daniels Jr., was at a Hampton Inn on Colonnade Parkway with his family for a reunion over the holiday weekend.

Emergency responders from the Birmingham Police Department, Birmingham Fire and Rescue, and Rocky Ridge Fire Department were immediately dispatched to the hotel following the emergency call. Upon arrival, CPR was administered to Kiere before he was transported to Children’s Hospital in Birmingham.

According to authorities and witness reports, Kiere was experiencing shallow breathing during transport. After arriving at the hospital, he was placed on life support, where he fought for his life. Tragically, he passed away at 11:58 p.m. on Thursday, July 10.

Jefferson County Coroner’s Office ruled Kiere’s death as an accident.

In another incident reported from the US, a one-year-old boy died after his mother left him and his two-year-old brother inside a car while she went to receive lip filler injections at a medical spa in Bakersfield, California. The incident was reported on June 29, when 20-year-old Maya Hernandez allegedly left her children unattended in the vehicle to undergo the cosmetic procedure.

She has been charged with involuntary manslaughter and two counts of child cruelty.

The Bakersfield Police Department accused Hernandez of “prioritising her appearance over the safety and well-being of her children," according to a report filed in Kern County Superior Court.
