The Election Commission on Monday outlined how the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls will be conducted across 12 states in its second phase, with Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar detailing a house-to-house verification process and a clear timeline leading up to February 2026.

“The SIR will be a detailed, people-centric exercise where Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will make three visits to every house to verify voter details,” Gyanesh Kumar said at a press conference. He added that the updated rolls will be finalised and published by February 2026.
