3 killed as bike collides head-on with truck

Sambalpur: Three men were killed after a motorcycle collided head-on with a container truck near Pithamaren at Kureibahal under Jamankira police limits in Sambalpur district on Sunday.IIC, Jamankira police station, Ranjan Nag said the crash took place around 11 am when the bike, carrying three riders, rammed into a container truck coming towards Jamankira from Sambalpur. The impact was so severe that all three, Ranabrit Singh (20), Bulu Rana (25) and Sujit Langa (24), died on the spot.The accident took place on NH-53. Following the collision, the motorcycle got trapped under the truck’s wheels and caught fire, which later spread to the container.

The container truck was partially burnt, while the bike was completely gutted.Local residents alerted police and fire services. Firefighters rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control, though the front portion of the container suffered major damage.The truck driver and helper reportedly fled soon after the accident. The bodies were sent to a hospital of Kuchinda for autopsy and later handed over to the families.
