30 passengers injured as omnibus plunges into roadside pit near Krishnagiri

KRISHNAGIRI: More than 30 passengers suffered injuries after a private omnibus fell into a roadside pit near Rayakottai in Krishnagiri district in the early hours of Tuesday. The omnibus was en route to Bengaluru from Madurai, carrying 40 passengers. The accident happened around 5am when a front tyre suffered a puncture. "The driver lost control of the vehicle the instant the tyre got punctured. The bus fell into a roadside pit, resulting in injuries to more than 30 passengers,” said an officer at the Rayakottai police station.The injured were rushed to govt hospitals in Hosur and Krishnagiri. "Ten passengers have been admitted to Hosur Government Hospital. One is in critical condition and is undergoing intensive care," the officer added.The police registered a case.
