A total of 329 individuals were booked by the Cyberabad Police for driving under the influence of alcohol during the weekend. Of the total cases registered, 248 were two-wheeler riders, 23 were three-wheeler drivers, 54 were operating four-wheelers, and four were behind the wheels of heavy vehicles.

As per the data shared by the police, as many as 283 drivers registered Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) levels between 35 mg/100 ml and 200 mg/100 ml. Another 37 individuals had BAC readings between 201 mg/100 ml and 300 mg/100 ml, while nine were found with dangerously high levels between 301 mg/100 ml and 500 mg/100 ml.

The Cyberabad Police warned that in cases where an inebriated driver causes a fatal crash, they will be booked under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, which pertains to culpable homicide not amounting to murder. The section carries a maximum punishment of 10 years in prison along with a fine. Police urged citizens to refrain from drunk driving to help maintain safety on the roads.
