A 19-year-old youth has been arrested in Amravati district of Maharashtra for allegedly recording and circulating obscene videos involving minor girls, in a case that has sparked public outrage and intensified political reactions. The accused, Ayan Ahmed Tanveer Ahmed, was detained by the Amravati Rural Police after a tip-off led investigators to his activities in the Paratwada area.

Political figures claim he targeted around 180 young women, producing over 350 such recordings, though police have contacted only seven confirmed victims to date. There are claims of the accused's alleged links with Asaduddin Owais's AIMIM.

According to officials, he allegedly befriended several girls, gained their trust, and then lured them into relationships. Police claim he sexually exploited the victims and filmed the acts without their consent, later using the videos to threaten and blackmail them.

The scandal surfaced after multiple objectionable clips began circulating on social media, reportedly showing minor girls in distress.

While some local claims suggest a much larger number, police have so far confirmed seven victims. However, officials believe more victims may come forward as the investigation progresses.

The accused was produced before a court and remanded to police custody until April 21. His mobile phone and other electronic devices have been seized, and forensic experts are working to retrieve deleted data.

Investigators suspect that crucial evidence was erased and are examining whether another individual may have assisted in filming the videos or if a broader network is involved.

The incident has triggered anger in nearby towns, particularly Paratwada and Achalpur, where residents gathered in protest demanding strict punishment.

Many locals expressed concern over the safety of young girls and called for swift and stringent action against those responsible.

Police have appealed to victims and their families to approach authorities without hesitation. Officials assured that identities will remain confidential and that both legal and psychological support will be extended. They also highlighted that victims can file a 'Zero FIR' at any police station, regardless of location.

The case has also acquired a political dimension, with allegations linking the accused to the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen, headed by Lok Sabha MP Asaduddin Owaisi.

BJP leaders have alleged that the accused had connections with the party and was involved in its social media work during local elections.

In response, a local AIMIM representative stated that the individual is no longer associated with the party, while acknowledging that he had past links.

Senior political leaders have demanded a thorough probe into the matter, with calls for a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to examine whether the case is part of a larger organised racket.

Police officials maintain that the investigation is ongoing, with further details expected as digital evidence is analysed, and more statements are recorded.

Authorities have also urged the public to refrain from sharing unverified information online.
