₹36.26 crore sanctioned for drinking water scheme in Kuttanad

As part of the implementation of a comprehensive Kuttanad drinking water project, the State government has sanctioned ₹36.26 crore for constructing overhead water tanks and laying drinking water distribution pipelines in Pulinkunnu and Kavalam grama panchayats.

The project is being implemented in nine packages, with the works in Pulinkunnu and Kavalam falling under package six.

Kuttanad MLA Thomas K. Thomas said an overhead tank with a storage capacity of 12 lakh litres would be constructed, along with laying a 58.7-kilometre-long distribution network in Pulinkunnu. In Kavalam, an overhead tank with a storage capacity of eight lakh litres and a 21.6-kilometre distribution network will be set up. Tender procedures related to the works have already been completed. Approval has now been granted for the revised estimate, Mr. Thomas added.
