Kanpur: Police seized around 4,000 litres of suspected adulterated edible oil during a raid near Mantora Bridge in industrial area of Kanpur Dehat on Friday.According to police, the raid was carried out after authorities received information that adulterated oil was being illegally stored on a vacant plot located between Premnagar and Mantora Bridge.
The operation was led by surveillance in-charge Praveen Yadav, SOG in-charge JP Sharma and Raniya police station head Dinesh Gautam along with police personnel.The team recovered 20 drums containing nearly 4,000 litres of loil from the site. Officials suspect that the oil may have been stored for illegal adulteration and distribution purposes.Following the recovery, officials from the food and logistics department were called to the spot.
Samples of the suspected oil were collected and sent to a laboratory for testing to determine its quality and composition.Police said the seized oil has been taken into custody and further legal action will be initiated after the laboratory examination report is received.ASP Alok Prasad said a district-wide campaign against adulteration and illegal food-related activities is currently underway and strict action would be taken against those found involved in such offences.
