NAVI MUMBAI: Four youngsters were trapped inside an elevator between the third and fourth floors of Tulip CHS in Sector 34B, Kharghar, for about 90 minutes from 3 am on Friday due to a power outage in the residential area. The Kharghar fire brigade received the emergency call at 4.25 am and reached the society at 4.35 am. Firefighters rescued the trapped individuals — two men and two women, all aged between 20 and 22 — by forcing open the elevator door from outside using a crowbar and a battery-operated spreader tool. Prashant Darekar, a leading fireman at Kharghar, said,"It took us less than 5 minutes to rescue the trapped youngsters. While, one woman was a tenant in the building, the other three were her friends who had come to drop her home after they returned from a night out."
