Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy informed that the Centre has been funding ₹42,219-crore worth of railway projects in Telangana and urged the State government to expedite necessary land acquisition for their early completion on Monday.

In the last 11 years, 444 km of doubling, tripling and quadrupling of railway lines were done with 1,890-km lines electrified under the Modi government. Save for the ongoing works, entire State rail network has been 100% electrified, he said.

The Minister had earlier unveiled the ₹2.23 crore façade lighting of Kacheguda Railway station, which was constructed in 1916 with Indo-Gothic architecture. The station is also being redeveloped at a cost of ₹421.66 crore as part of the Amrut Bharat Scheme. Altogether, 40 stations are being improved at an estimated cost of ₹2,750 crore.

Mr. Kishan Reddy said, if the road network had doubled during this time, the railway network had tripled, connecting far-flung areas with ₹30,832 crore sanctioned since 2014, and this year it has been a high of ₹5,337 crore. If 17.4 km railway line a year was being built earlier, it is now 55 km, he said and listed out the numerous works underway including the wagon factory at Kazipet.

The Minister also felicitated the members of ‘Kachi Welfare Sangham’ as the Kacheguda Railway Station gets its name from ‘Kachi’ community which resided close to the station. Rajya Sabha MP Anil Kumar Yadav, BJP MLA Dr. Palvai Harish Babu, MLC Addanki Dayakar, SCR GM Arun Kumar Jain and others also spoke, said a press release.
