453 Maoists killed in Chhattisgarh since Dec' 2023, says CM Sai after meeting Amit Shah

RAIPUR: Chhattisgarh chief minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Tuesday said, “since December 2023 security forces’ intensified strategy has resulted in killing of 453 Maoists, 1,616 arrests, and 1,666 surrenders, alongside the establishment of 65 new security camps in the region. Chief minister Sai made the statement after meeting Union home minister Amit Shah in New Delhi, where he presented an update on the state’s anti-Maoist campaign, infrastructure rollout in Bastar, and ongoing flood-relief operations.In a statement issued after few hours of meeting, Sai said that road, bridge and mobile-network infrastructure are being expanded rapidly to consolidate gains and reconnect vulnerable pockets of Bastar.Briefing Shah on last week’s floods across parts of Bastar division, Sai said that reaching every affected family and ensuring swift rehabilitation remains the state government’s top priority. He added that relief camps, essential supplies and restoration of basic services are being scaled up across impacted areas.“Alongside eliminating Maoism in Bastar, our government is fully committed to development and the restoration of peace,” chief minister said.Officials said both leaders discussed continued Centre–state coordination on security and development initiatives in south Chhattisgarh. Further details of the meeting were not immediately disclosed.
