The Cyberabad traffic police booked 466 motorists during a special weekend drunk driving enforcement drive aimed at curbing road accidents caused die driving under the influence of alcohol.
As per the data shared by police, the offenders included 344 two-wheeler riders, 104 four-wheeler motorists, 15 three-wheeler drivers and three heavy vehicle operators. All the accused were booked under relevant sections of the law and will be produced before court.

The police reiterated that driving under the influence of alcohol is a grave offence. Those found drunk driving and causing fatal accidents will face charges under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, culpable homicide not amounting to murder, which carries a maximum punishment of ten years’ imprisonment along with a fine.
Officials said that 336 drunk driving cases were disposed of in court last week. Of these, 285 offenders were fined, 32 received both fines and social service as penalty, and 19 were sentenced to jail in addition to fines.
The traffic police urged motorists to exercise caution, avoid driving under the influence of alcohol, and prioritise the safety of themselves and others on the road.
