5 cops on poll duty injured in road crash

Five police officers were injured, one of them seriously, when their vehicle collided with a pickup van on National Highway 966 at Nattukal, near Mannarkkad, on Wednesday night.

The police officers were on election duty. They were returning to Mannarkkad after special duty at Karinkallathani when the accident occurred near the Nattukal post office.

The police said the vehicle that crashed had been hired for election duty. The injured were rushed to a private hospital at Perinthalmanna.
