NEW DELHI: At least five people have died and four others were injured after a chariot came into contact with live electric wires during a Krishna Janmashtami procession in Hyderabad, police said. The incident occurred late on Sunday night in the Ramanthapur area, under Uppal police station limits. Inspector of Uppal Police Station confirmed the casualties and said the injured had been taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The bodies of the deceased were sent for post-mortem examination.
Police have launched an investigation into how the chariot came into contact with the overhead power line.
