Arun Gawli walks out of jail after nearly 2 decades
One of Mumbai’s most infamous gangsters, Arun Gulab Gawli, on Wednesday walked out of the Nagpur Central Jail, days after the Supreme Court ordered his release. The gangster-turned politician had been behind bars for 18 years and was serving a life imprisonment since 2012. Gawli, who is in his 70s, was granted bail after the Supreme Court ordered his release, citing his long incarceration. Read more

IMD issues ‘red’ alert for parts of Delhi as heavy rains continue
The water level of the Yamuna River in Delhi crossed the danger level mark on Wednesday morning as the national capital continued to receive heavy rains. River Yamuna crossed the danger mark of 205.33 metres on Wednesday, following which over 7,000 people from low-lying areas were evacuated. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) also issued a red alert for Northeast, East, Central, and South Delhi, while the remaining areas are under an orange alert. Read more

Stabbing attack in South Korean restaurant leaves three dead
Three people were killed and another person was injured after a stabbing attack at a restaurant in South Korea's capital, Seoul, on Wednesday. Those killed in the stabbing attack include two men and a woman. According to the authorities, all the victims were seriously injured in the abdomen in the attack and were taken to a nearby hospital, where they died. A fourth person, believed to be the attacker, is currently undergoing treatment in a serious condition after stabbing himself while attempting to take his own life. Read more

Over 33,000 pages of Epstein files released
Amid the allegations of a cover-up by the Trump administration, the US House Oversight Committee has publicly released 33,295 pages of documents and several videos linked to the Epstein files. The release includes hundreds of image files of years-old court filings related to Epstein and Maxwell, body cam videos from police searches and interviews with victims. It also included footage of Epstein’s New York jail cell of the outside area on the night he died in prison on August 10, 2019. Read more

YouTube likely to block Premium benefits for some users
YouTube seems to be following other OTT platforms like Netflix and Disney+ and restricting the benefits of the Premium membership to some users. YouTube has now started flagging accounts that are part of the family plan but don’t share the same address as the family manager. In India, the YouTube Premium family plan costs Rs 299 a month, and a total of six users, including the primary account holder, can enjoy features like background play, ad-free video streaming, the option to skip segments in videos, Smart Downloads, and more.
