The Mysuru district police has collected a total fine amount of ₹8,81,750 between August 23 and 25 after the State government announced a 50% rebate on the pending traffic fine dues.
The government has offered a 50% concession to vehicle owners who come forward to pay their pending traffic fines from August 23 to September 12.
A statement from the Mysuru district police said 882 challans were cleared and a fine amount of ₹2.23 lakh was collected on August 23, while 1,229 challans were cleared and a fine amount of ₹3.09 lakh was collected on August 24. On August 25, 1,370 challans were cleared and a fine amount of ₹3.49 lakh was collected.
The Mysuru district police has publicised the 50% rebate announced by the government on its website and official handles on various social media platforms, including X and Facebook. Publicity about the concession has also been made during meetings and events held in villages and towns under police stations falling under the jurisdiction of Mysuru district police, the statement said.
Arrangements have been made at all police stations of Mysuru district for cash payments of the fines. Online payments can also be made through the Karnataka State Police (KSP) app and website until September 12, the statement added.
