6 arrested, 2 teenagers detained for murder

Berhampur: Six persons were arrested and two teenagers detained in connection with the murder of a 43-year-old man at Dadamaska under Phulbani Sadar police station limits on June 21 on Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Akura Behera. “Search is on to arrest other accused,” said SP (Kandhamal) Ramendra Prasad on Saturday.The arrested persons were identified as Bimal Suna, 43, and his elder brother Gopal Kishor Suna, 51, Amar Kumar Sahani, 21, Simanchal Behera, 25, Rajendra Behera, 37, and Baidhar Behera, 56, of Dalapada, police said.He said the crime took place due to previous enmity between two families. It stems from a road rage incident that took place on June 19 over speed riding of a motorcycle, which escalated into the clash between the families.On June 21, a clash took place when the accused allegedly attacked the deceased with sharp weapons. He died on the spot. Two axes, a sharp weapon and a crank were seized from the accused, police said. Though the situation is under normal in the area, police personnel were deployed to guard the situation, said the SP.
