6 arrested in UP for issuing fake birth certificates

AGRA: Six men have been arrested for allegedly issuing fake birth certificates by using the login credentials of a gram panchayat secretary in UP's Aligarh district, reports . The documents were created in the names of people from several states, including UP, Bihar, Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha and Chhattisgarh, said police.There is evidence these criminals were manipulating official services such as Aadhaar updates, issuance of driving licences and birth and death certificates, said police. The user ID and password of the secretary of Dattacholi Bujurg village in Aligarh was accessed and 597 fraudulent certificates were issused through civil registration portal. The certificates were issued to people across 16 states and in 50 districts.
