NAVI MUMBAI: As many as 6 cops and 5 Bangladeshi nationals were injured in a pile-up of police convoy vehicles from Mumbai and Navi Mumbai.They were escorting the Bangladeshi nationals in three police vans towards Pune when the convoy reached near Bhatan tunnel on Wednesday around 6.30pm. The injured were taken to MGM Hospital, Kamothe.PSI Devidas Naik of Palapse traffic unit informed that a trailer skidded and crashed into the wall inside the Bhatan tunnel. When the highway traffic police team reached the spot to tow away the trailer on the third lane, a tempo hit the trailer despite being directed to slow down, causing two lanes to be blocked inside the tunnel. A police convoy with eight cars escorting several Bangladeshi nationals in three police vans from Mumbai and Navi Mumbai had to suddenly slow down about 800 metres from the tunnel to ply on the first lane. The pile-up occurred, resulting in some cops and Bangladeshi nationals sustaining minor injuries as they banged while seated inside the vehicles whose brakes were suddenly applied.
