Six people, including a woman, were stuck inside the lift of a high-rise society for nearly 30 minutes in Greater Noida West of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday night.

The incident occurred in the lift of the clubhouse in Aastha Green Society. A complaint has been filed at Bisrakh police station in this regard.

In their complaint, the residents of the society said that they were coming down from the fourth floor of the clubhouse at around 10.30 pm on Wednesday when the lift they were travelling in got stuck on the third floor. As the door of the lift didn't open, they tried to raise an alarm, but the alarm button inside the lift didn't work and nobody came to their help.

The people called up their acquaintances over the phone, who in turn alerted the society's maintenance staff. They arrived at the scene, opened the lift doors and those stuck inside were rescued.

In their complaint, the residents also mentioned that no operator was present inside the lift during the incident. Despite paying hefty maintenance charges, no lifts underwent any servicing, leading to such incidents, they alleged.

A video of the incident, recorded on a mobile phone by the people trapped inside the lift, quickly went viral on social media. The residents have demanded police action against the builder and the society's maintenance department.
