6-year-old killed, elderly injured in wall collapse

Lucknow: A six-year-old girl died and an elderly woman was injured after a dilapidated boundary wall of a vacant plot collapsed in Bhandutola locality of Madeyganj area on Saturday, police said.The deceased was identified as Zoya and the injured as Nazo (around 80).“Both were pulled out of the debris by police and locals and rushed to a hospital. Zoya, who was unconscious, was shifted from a private hospital in Khadra to Balrampur Hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead. Nazo is undergoing treatment at Balrampur Hospital,” police said.Residents said several old structures in the area are in a hazardous condition and require urgent inspection. Police have initiated inquest proceedings and are probing the ownership of the plot and possible negligence behind the collapse.
