62-year-old dies of dengue in Palakkad

Palakkad: A 62-year-old woman died of dengue fever on Saturday in Karimpuzha, Palakkad, health officials said.The deceased was identified as Mariya, a resident of Kannichal in Ambalampadam, Pombra, under the Karimpuzha panchayat limits.According to relatives, Mariya had been suffering from high fever since Thursday. She initially sought treatment at the Elambulassery primary health centre. However, as her condition failed to improve, she was shifted to a private hospital in Vattambalam near Mannarkkad on Friday.Despite treatment, Mariya’s health deteriorated and she died on Saturday morning, relatives said.Health department officials have begun surveillance activities in the area following her death and are monitoring the situation to identify any additional suspected dengue cases.
