62-year-old man arrested for sexually harassing girl in Villupuram

The All Women Police in Kottakuppam arrested a 62-year-old man under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act on charges of sexually harassing a minor girl.

The accused has been identified as Kanniappan, a carpenter from Nadukuppam near Marakkanam.

According to the police, the accused reportedly asked the 11-year-old girl to buy a snack from a local eatery on Saturday (May 23, 2026). He then sexually harassed her. The girl narrated the incident to her mother, who then lodged a complaint with the Kottakuppam All Women Police.

A case was registered against Kanniappan under relevant sections of the POCSO Act. He was arrested and remanded in custody.
