Sixty-five persons were injured in jallikattu organised at Alambakkam village near Kallakudi, Muthupudaiyanpatti village near Manapparai in Tiruchi district and Keela Vegupatti village near Ponnamaravathi in Pudukottai district on Saturday.
A total of 660 bulls were released during the event held at Alambakkam with the number of participating tamers being 218. Thirty-one people were injured, of whom a spectator was referred to the government hospital here. The remaining 30 persons were treated as outpatients at the event venue.
About 26 persons were injured at the jallikattu organised at Muthupudaiyanpatti, where 868 bulls were released, and 298 tamers participated. Of the injured, eight persons were referred to Manapparai Government Hospital and the remaining 18 were treated as outpatients.
The jallikattu at Keela Vegupatti village saw the release of 777 bulls, with the number of participating tamers being 187. Eight persons were injured, of which a tamer was referred to hospital, and the remaining seven — three owners, three spectators and a tamer — were treated as outpatients at the event venue, police sources said.
