“I never even dreamed of this award. I dedicate it to everyone who loves Malayalam and Kerala. I thank the jury and the Government of India. At this moment, I remember the great actors who walked ahead of me… this award gives me energy for the journey ahead, but it also brings a responsibility — to think about what more I can do for cinema.

The actor, who often chooses not to respond to controversies, was asked why he remains silent in the face of criticism. Mohanlal replied thoughtfully: “There’s no need to compete with critics. Everyone has their own reasons, and I have mine. My social responsibility is to do my work well. The successes and failures of films are not in my hands.” He also reflected on his time as president of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA), dismissing claims that it was a burden.
“The role was never a burden to me. It is an association that does many good things. Minor differences of opinion will arise, but that doesn’t erase the good being done.”See More: 71st National Film Awards Live Updates: Shah Rukh Khan blushes and smiles as Information and Broadcasting Ministry's secretary Sanjay Jaju praises 'Jawan' star
