8-Year-Old Attacked By Stray Dog Without Provocation In UP, Incident Caught On Camera

The date of dog attack coincides the day of Supreme Court's order on stray dogs, as per which they have to be moved to shelters within two months in Delhi-NCR.

An eight-year-old boy was attacked by a stray dog when he was playing outside his residence, leaving him injured in Alipur neighbourhood of Gajraula town in Uttar Pradesh’s Amroha district, officials said on Tuesday.

The incident that took place on Monday was caught on the CCTV camera. The boy was identified as Ahad Saifi, who sustained injuries to his arms and legs.

The incident took place on the same day when the Supreme Court, in a suo motu case, ordered the authorities in Delhi-NCR to remove the stray dogs from the streets and move them to the shelters and not allow them to escape, drawing varied reactions – some supporting while some protesting the order.

How Did The Incident Take Place?

As the boy was playing outside his home, the dog was seen pouncing on him without any provocation in the video. Two passers-by on a motorbike intervened and saved the child from the animal’s grip, officials said.

After the attack, the boy’s family members rushed him to the Community Health Centre (CHC), where he is currently receiving treatment.

Reports claimed that the same stray dog was involved in previous dog-bite incidents as well in the area.
