9 Mizoram districts hit 100% digitisation of SIR enumeration forms

Aizawl: Nine districts of Mizoram, except Aizawl and the southernmost Lawngtlai, have achieved 100% digitisation of enumeration forms in the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, in line with Election Commission of India instructions, officials of the state chief electoral officer (CEO) said on Wednesday.The enumeration forms digitisation now stands at 99.96%, the officials said.Out of the total electorate of 8,75,068 registered in 2025 electoral rolls, enumeration forms for 8,74,728 electors have so far been digitised as of 4pm on Wednesday. Lawngtlai and Aizawl districts have achieved 99.99% and 99.89% of digitisation, respectively, the officials said.At least 46,434 enumeration forms (5.31%) could not be collected for various reasons, they said.

Of these, 21,194 electors (45.64%) have been found to be dead, while 14,179 voters (30.53%) have permanently shifted from their original places. The officials said 2,161 electors have already been enrolled in the ongoing SIR, 8,571 voters (18.45%) are found to be untraceable, and 329 voters could not be traced due to other reasons.The officials said 1,301 booth level officers (BLOs) have been engaged in the enumeration process across the state since May 30 and are expected to complete the exercise before the June 28 deadline set by the Election Commission of India.

Mizoram is ahead among the 16 states and three Union Territories undertaking the third phase of the SIR, the officials said.The state had 5,59,123 electors during the last SIR in 2005. The electorate has increased to 8,75,068 in 2025, including 4,23,397 male and 4,51,671 female voters.
