9 workers rescued after blaze erupts at Bawana factory (Representative image)
NEW DELHI: Nine people were rescued after a fire broke out at a cooler grass manufacturing factory in outer Delhi’s Bawana area in the early hours of Saturday.According to the Delhi Fire Services (DFS), a call regarding the blaze was received at 3.16 am, following which eight fire tenders carrying around 48 fire personnel were rushed to the spot.
Firefighters launched an operation to contain the flames and rescue those trapped inside the premises.Officials said the fire had erupted in a factory engaged in the manufacture of grass pads used in desert coolers. Thick smoke engulfed parts of the unit, prompting firefighters to conduct a search and evacuation operation.A total of nine people were safely rescued from the factory during the firefighting exercise.
No injuries or casualties were reported, officials said.The operation continued for nearly two hours before the fire was brought under control. The blaze was declared extinguished at around 5 am.DFS officials said the prompt response by the fire personnel helped prevent the fire from spreading further and ensured the safe evacuation of all occupants.The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
