The Delhi Police Special Cell has arrested nine suspected terrorists allegedly linked to a Pakistan-based network involving the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and elements of the Mumbai underworld. Officials said the accused were planning attacks on key installations and security personnel in Delhi and other major cities.

According to investigators, the group was operating as per the directions of handlers based across the border and had been tasked with carrying out targeted attacks to create panic and disrupt security. The arrests were made following a coordinated operation by the Special Cell after receiving specific intelligence inputs.

Police said a cache of arms and explosives was recovered from the possession of the accused. The seized material reportedly includes sophisticated pistols, grenades and other items suspected to have been intended for use in terror-related activities.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that the accused were allegedly in touch with Pakistan-backed operatives and were receiving instructions regarding potential targets. Officials suspect that the module was planning attacks on vital installations and members of the security forces.

Sources said the arrested individuals belong to different states, including Delhi, Maharashtra and Punjab. Some foreign nationals are also among those detained, although police are yet to disclose their identities and nationalities.

Investigators are also probing the alleged links between the accused and the Mumbai underworld. Security agencies believe the network may have been using criminal channels for logistics, funding and movement of operatives.

The Special Cell is now examining the financial trail, communication records and wider network associated with the module. Agencies are trying to determine whether additional operatives are active in other parts of the country and whether the accused had conducted reconnaissance of potential targets.

The arrests come amid heightened security concerns, and officials described the operation as a significant breakthrough in preventing a possible terror plot. Security has been tightened at sensitive locations, while intelligence agencies continue to assess the scale of the network and its alleged cross-border connections.

Further investigation is underway, and police are expected to share more details after questioning the accused and analysing the recovered material.
