Ahmedabad: Approval has been granted for 98 new govt secondary and higher secondary schools across all districts of the state, along with sanction for 386 staff members. In Ahmedabad Rural, three new govt schools will come up in Detroj and Dholera.The state govt has cleared 85 govt secondary schools in non-tribal areas, 3 govt higher secondary schools and 10 govt secondary schools in tribal areas.Besides, 386 staff posts have been sanctioned — 346 for the 88 schools in non-tribal regions and 40 for the 10 schools in tribal areas. An allocation of Rs 4.4 crore has been made for infrastructure for these new schools. Among those approved, three govt schools in Ahmedabad Rural have also been cleared.As part of the drive to ensure 100% enrolment and zero dropout in secondary and higher secondary education, approval has been given to start 95 new govt secondary schools and 3 higher secondary schools. This includes two new govt secondary schools and one higher secondary school in Ahmedabad Rural.On the decision, Ahmedabad (Rural) DEO B N Prajapati said this initiative will significantly support the goal of 100% enrolment and zero dropout in secondary and higher secondary education. “The setting up of new schools in rural areas will ease access for children, especially girls in remote regions, to continue higher studies,” Prajapati added.
