The Andhra Pradesh JAC Amaravati Women’s Wing celebrated its second anniversary on Sunday. The event, led by State chairperson Pare Lakshmi and secretary general Ponnuru Vijayalakshmi, brought together women leaders and employees from across the State, with parallel programmes held in all 26 districts.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Lakshmi thanked Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for issuing G.O. 21 (dated May 5, 2025), which makes women employees with more than two children eligible for maternity leave. However, she urged the government to extend Child Care Leave (CCL) for State employees to two years, on par with Central government employees, instead of the current six months.

Ms. Vijayalakshmi pointed out that although G.O. 36 (dated March 16, 2024) removed the age limit for availing CCL, its implementation has been delayed by the Finance Department. She called for immediate enforcement and sought greater flexibility in utilising CCL, rather than restricting it to 10 spells.

A.P. JAC Amaravati chairman Bopparaju Venkateswarlu and secretary general Palishetty Damodara Rao also spoke.
