The 25th Andhra Pradesh State Shooting Championships are set to take place between June 21 and 30 at SATS Shooting Ranges in Hyderabad’s Gachibowli.
The event is being organised by the Rifle Association of Andhra Pradesh. Over 450 athletes from across the State will be competing in various events such as 10M Air Rifle/Pistol, 25M Pistol, 50M Rifle/Pistol and Shotgun disciplines.
This time, the championship is introducing a new category — Youth — in several firearm events for the first time, which includes the 50M Rifle Prone (NR), 25M Pistol (NR), 10M Rifle/Pistol, Clay Pigeon Skeet Shooting (NR) and Clay Pigeon Trap and Double Trap Shooting (NR) championships.
According to a press release from the association, aspiring shooters can now directly purchase arms from the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI), even before attaining the ‘Renowned Shooter’ status. The decision has been taken to remove entry barriers and to empower athletes with the essential tools that they need to train, compete and excel from an early stage in their shooting careers.
