SRIKAKULAM:

A schoolteacher, Y. Sujatha, was suspended on Tuesday from service indefinitely for her alleged misbehaviour in the classroom, after a video surfaced showing her forcing two students to massage her legs her a few days ago.

The teacher, assigned to a tribal government school in Bandapalli village of Meliyaputti mandal in Srikakulam district, faced sharp criticism from people once the video went viral. The footage reportedly shows her sitting in an improper manner and directing students to massage her legs.

Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) Seethampeta Project Officer, Pawar Swapnil Jagannath, issued the suspension order as per the Andhra Pradesh Civil Services Rules-1991. The order cited her derogatory conduct towards students, use of a mobile phone during class hours and sitting inappropriately— stretching her legs and forcing students to massage her legs were mentioned as immediate reasons for her suspension from the job.

She has been directed not to leave the headquarters until the inquiry into the incident is completed.
