Meghan Markle has opened up about her now-viral “Baby Momma Dance" video, calling it as a glimpse into a “real, authentic, and fun life". She shared the clip earlier this month on Instagram to celebrate her daughter Lilibet’s fourth birthday.

Speaking on the latest episode of the Aspire with Emma Grede podcast, the Duchess of Sussex reflected on the Instagram video — a throwback showing her and Prince Harry dancing just before the birth of their daughter.

During the podcast, Meghan also spoke about her aim to be more open online as she builds her lifestyle brand American Riviera Orchard, People Magazine reported. She echoed podcast host Grede’s belief that authenticity is key, saying, “You have to be authentic," before laughing and asking, “Did you see my ‘Baby Momma’ dance?"

The video, which shows Meghan and Harry dancing in a hospital room to the viral song ‘The Baby Momma Dance’, quickly spread online. Meghan shared it on June 4 to mark Lilibet’s fourth birthday, adding a caption that read: “Both of our children were a week past their due dates… so when spicy food, all that walking, and acupuncture didn’t work – there was only one thing left to do!" She also revealed the clip was recorded exactly four years ago.

While many online praised the candid and light-hearted moment, some criticised the video. But Meghan says the video was meant to show a real part of her life — something she is becoming more comfortable doing.

“That was four years ago," she said on the podcast. “So it’s also a really great reminder that with all the noise or whatever people do, there’s still a whole life — a real, authentic, fun life — that’s happening behind the scenes."

The Duchess added that being able to post such moments on her own terms is important to her. “I’m just grateful that now, being back on social as well, I have a place where I can share it on my own terms."
