Bayern Munich agree record €80m loan deal with Chelsea for Nicolas Jackson, including €15m loan fee and €65m purchase clause.

Bayern Munich have reached an agreement with Chelsea to sign striker Nicolas Jackson in what is set to become a record-breaking loan transfer.

According to The Athletic, the 24-year-old Senegalese forward will join Bayern on a season-long loan with an option to buy. The total package is reported to be worth €80 million (£69m; $93.5m), the highest fee ever structured for a loan deal in football.

Breakdown of the Deal

As per the report, the agreement includes:

• €15m (£13m; $17.5m) upfront loan fee
• €65m (£56.2m; $75.8m) fixed purchase clause if Bayern make the move permanent
• A sell-on clause for Chelsea in case Jackson is sold in the future

It was also reported that Jackson has already been granted permission to travel to Germany on Saturday to complete his medical.

Jackson’s Journey With Chelsea

The Senegal international joined Chelsea from Villarreal in the summer of 2023 and made an immediate impact, scoring 17 goals in his debut season across competitions.

Last year, he contributed 13 goals and six assists, helping Chelsea lift the UEFA Conference League and secure a top-four Premier League finish, which brought Champions League football back to Stamford Bridge.

In recognition of his performances, Chelsea handed him a long-term contract in September 2023, tying him down until 2033.

Why the Move?

Despite his strong debut season, Jackson’s place in the squad has come under threat following Chelsea’s busy summer recruitment drive. The arrivals of João Pedro from Brighton and Liam Delap from Ipswich Town added further competition for attacking places under new head coach Enzo Maresca.

Jackson was notably left out of Chelsea’s pre-season friendlies against Bayer Leverkusen and Milan as discussions over his future intensified in the final weeks of the transfer window.

The deal also fits into Chelsea’s wider summer rebuild under Maresca.

Alongside Jackson’s departure, the club are pushing to finalize a deal for Alejandro Garnacho, who is expected to sign before Monday’s transfer deadline.
